My Personal Success Story–I Quit Smoking–7 Easy Steps

Requirements/Steps 1.Take Chantix (it worked for me) for a total of 10 days & continue smoking as usual. 2.After medicine kicks in on 7th day, desire for smoking goes away. 3.After 3 days of not smoking (day 10)…nicotine is out of system…the rest is all mental…all physical dependencies & potential physical withdrawal symptoms are gone. 4.Quit drinking for the first 2-3 weeks! If you drink, you’ll want to smoke-guaranteed! 5.Buy lots of gum (Costco or Sam’s Club). 6.After about 4 weeks…I could be around smokers without getting the urge to light one up. After 4 months, smokers stink! 7.Share your success with friends.

Way to go. I am 29 years old and had been smoking since I was 15. It has been 1 month and 2 weeks and I still don’t want to smoke. I also have asthma and don’t want to die young.

I wish you all the luck! The good news is that when I began taking the medicine, I didn’t really expect to quit. I thought I’d have argumentative ammunition to defend myself in explaining why I still smoke–I could say that I tried the gum, patch & now the chantix, & nothing could help me quit. The great thing is even with that attitude, the medication made it so easy to quit. Keep me posted on your progress.

Well done mate. I’m in a similar position, been smoking 12 years, 40 a day, & am now starting to feel the effects. I’m going to be stopping after my visit to the docs tomorrow.

  • addsyd

Stick with it, it gets easier…even after 2 packs a day for several years—one can quit. I tried the patch & nicotine gum with no success…the only thing that curbed the desire for nicotine was the chantix.

its nice to have some advice for help. This is my 2nd attempt to quit and im using the patch. I feel like crying.
