Healing Depression the Mind-Body Way shines a new light on the darkness of depression by presenting specific antidepression strategies designed to help you unleash your innate healing potential. The time-tested advice presented in this book is based on the latest theories of modern science and the practical wisdom of Ayurveda, an ancient system of natural medicine. This unique book offers a comprehensive step-by-step program for eradicating the root of depression from the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your being.

Through detailed questionnaires about your psycho-physiological profile and elemental imbalances, you will identify an archetype that most represents your experience with depression. Then, you will design a tailor-made health program to regain balance in your mind-body.

You will learn to undo depression by:

  • Identifying your unique manifestation of depression based on elemental imbalances
  • Using yoga, exercise, and breathing techniques that are in sync with your specific physical, mental, and emotional needs

  • Using food and meditation as medicine

Whether you are battling a depressive episode or need support coping with the problems of daily living, this book will help you awaken the “physician within” and embark on a pathway to a life of balance and renewal.

  • As a Yoga Instructor I was interested in the authors’ prescriptive Yoga poses for healing depression and I was not disappointed. Their unique approach links ayurveda and yoga as it originated in the ancient texts. Like the entire book, this chapter is well organized, easy to understand and logical. I bought several copies to give to a number of students who have asked about yoga therapy for depression.

  • The authors provide a wealth of authentic wisdom for relief from depression or simply a more balanced and positive experience of life. The understanding and techniques in this book will help you take charge of your psychological well-being by creating balance within your own unique mind-body system, the real key to creating health on every level. Different nervous systems react to mental and emotional stress differently and express depression uniquely. Learning how to balance your unique mind-body type helps to relieve and prevent depression, and allows you to manage your life and health more effectively. My advice (in all kindness and seriousness,) stop reading this review so you can get this book and start reading it. The sooner you do (and begin to follow its recommendations,) the sooner you will begin to feel better.

  • Nancy Liebler and Sandra Moss have written a terrific book. I purchased the book looking for information about Ayurveda and was delighted with my choice. The authors explain the basic tenets of Ayurveda, how this ancient system relates to modern science and how the holistic benefits can enhance wellness. The focus is on applying the principles of Ayurveda to ameliorate the effects of depression but the information and techniques offered would help heighten happiness for anyone. The book is well written, easy to read and often humorous. The chapter on sleep is worth purchasing the book.

  • I read this- or most of it- while standing in a bookstore. I have not slept without sleeping pills for two years. I was feeling sort of frantic after two particularly anxiety filled nights and went to the bookstore to unwind.

I read this book and put tiny amounts of it into practice that evening. I fell asleep early and fast and without drugs and only woke up once because I was LAUGHING!! I don’t know, but I am sipping my hot water and feeling mighty fine about it. Certainly worth looking at!
